November 21 - The Florida Panthers, who will go for their third straight win when they play host to the Boston Bruins Wednesday night, are getting an unexpected contribution from defenseman Niko Mikkola. July 1, the Panthers signed Mikkola to a three-year, $7.8 million contract. Indeed, in just 18 games this season, Mikkola - who made his NHL debut in January 2020 - has already matched his career high with three goals. The Bruins led that series 3-1 before Florida won the next two and then took Game 7 in overtime. That game was atypical for Boston as the Bruins have allowed more than two goals just four times this season -- all losses.

The Florida Panthers started the season without Sam Bennett, and they are bracing to be without him once again. Panthers coach Paul Maurice told reporters after the team practiced in Detroit on Wednesday that the reigning Eastern Conference champions aren't sure on the prognosis for Bennett, Florida's fourth-leading scorer in last season's playoffs. Bennett needed to be helped off the ice, unable to put any weight on his left leg. The Panthers have dealt with injuries throughout this young season, with defensemen Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour still expected to be weeks away from making their 2023-2024 debuts. CNN —The Vegas Golden Knights are one win away from clinching a first Stanley Cup in the franchise’s history after a nail-biting 3-2 victory against the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Making only their second appearance in the final, the Golden Knights take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series and can secure the Stanley Cup in Game 5 on Tuesday in Las Vegas. From the moment Toronto sealed their place in the second round there has been a palpable buzz all around the city. The Leafs' win over Tampa Bay in the first round had snapped a 19-year playoff series win drought, which was the longest active such streak in the NHL, but the Panthers brought Leafs' fans crashing down to Earth at Scotiabank Arena. So I think those are the kind of things that just happened a step quicker tonight than it was in the previous series.
